September to Remember
First things first, congratulations to the 2008 Red Sox for making yet another Playoff appearance! Will they have what it takes to overcoming amazing teams like the Rays or the Angels and retain their World Series title? Time will tell, but I've been very impressed with how they've been playing this season.
2nd - I turned 20 this September. It feels very weird to not be a teen any more, but I guess that's life? It's moving wayy too fast for me, but I'm doing my best to keep up! Thanks for the cake mom! And thanks for all the thoughtful cards and packages! My family is awesome! Wish I could've been there to see you all...
This month brought a close to my very boring month of September. It's been very low key and I've had a lot of time on my hands due to me only having one class this month. My schedule was Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday. The class was Flash fundamentals, a class that introduced the basic concepts of flash animations, a popular animation program for the web. I had the same class last month but I barely failed it. Full Sail is very understanding of the time frame of classes and how the fast paced learning environment can affect students, which is why if you fail for grades you can retake it for free.
This time around though I was fortunate to have a great teacher by the name of Jason Madsen, he was very patient and went all out to make sure we got it this time around. He used excellent examples and had good projects. Thanks Jason!
My schedule gave me some free time to get my hands dirty with another project, so I ended up building a website for a Limp Bizkit fan-site. It's called The Armpit, and it's been the biggest Limp Bizkit fan-site since it opened in 2003. Members of the band themselves acknowledge this, they've posted on the forums several times staying very close to the fans despite their lack of activity within the band.
I know Limp Bizkit was basically just a thing of the 90's - early 2000 but I've been a member of the community there since the site opened, and I've developed a lot of good friends there, including the web-master Alex. So he's the one who gave me the project.
It's just a temp site until their next version is released, but it's improved ten-fold over their last design. The Armpit was notorious for using annoying iFrames in their designs, making content very cluttered and ultimately an eyesore.
So luckily the web stuff I learned a couple of months ago became very handy, I was able to integrate it to make a fully functional PHP / CSS / HTML site thats scalable to any resolution. Nice!
Enough talk though - check it out HERE.
Today I'll be looking for some new apartments to move into for the month of November. It's simply too expensive to stay here, and I'll be moving in with a good friend of mine. Hopefully I find somewhere good!
Thanks to my family for staying close and helping me out with all the care packages, it means a lot! I'll keep in touch...
