Digital Studio Part 3

Third project: NPPL Poster Design

Before:

Comments by committee:

Event poster needs a clear hierarchy of the event.
The "ny" font is nice; consider its use for all info level text.
Black color is sapping life out of the visual and text.
Sponsor logos should be stylized better. Addition of website, copyright, trademark, etc.

After:

I feel really good about the changes I've made to this project... I'm really starting to appreciate textures and how much life they can add to backgrounds. Anyways feel free to comment and thanks for reading!

Digital Studio Part 2

Part 2 of the Digital Studio blog series... if you're not sure what this is about read part one

Second Project: Tiger Beer Package Design (a popular beer in European companies, have yet to try it)

Before:

Comments by committee:
Good idea. Rebrand of a company should contain the following elements business card, letterhead, and envelope.
Label needs the following: display on bottle and entire label designed showing ingredients, nutrition info.
bottling location, recycle info. etc.
Design: suggest removal of ray of light feature possible change to tiger pattern. Address the font selectionsto
better establish hierarchy of information and appropriateness of choices in relation to goal. Stated beer
target audience does meet with some of the choices currently on the bottle. Research needed.

After:

Obviously, I wasn't able to do all the requested assets, the 3D modeling took quite a bit of time, however I feel it's a big step up from the previous version. It's very elegant, simple and appealing to a new, younger crowd. Additionally I'm liking how it's looking on a bottle! Tell me what you guys think...

Digital Studio Part 1

Ok so here's the first blog of a series of 5. In the class I'm in now, Digital Studio, we are to hand in school projects we've done thus far to a design committee where we will be rated and graded, as well as given feedback and criticism. From there, it is up to us to make up for lost points by refining projects to portfolio grade quality. In each blog I'll post a before and after shot, as well as the comments that were left by the committee.

First project: Ender's Game Book Cover Design (by the way, amazing book, check it out if you haven't read it yet)

Before:

Comments by committee:

Rethink concept/idea, think more abstractly or simpler visual from story, needs better visual.
Establish a better grid/alignment system. Spine must contain title, author, publisher, etc.
Stylize font on front and back, rethink font choices, make choices that don't rely on stroke to separate it from the background. Address color selections.
Research needs to be done to assure all elements are included i.e.: website, barcode, etc.
Prices US and CAN, publisher logo, quotes from reviews, etc.

After:

Feel free to add comments and tell me what you think of the revised version before it's turned in again. Thanks for reading! Check back from the next projects.
